My Biography
Long story, long version:
The depression caused my parents to move around a bit. Raised in western Pennsylvania, Lee and Ruth Crawford launched me in Willis, Texas, in late fall of 1933 just before they moved me and my older brother and sister to Colorado where they settled down for the rest of their lives. Childhood and adolescence happened, followed by a wonderful marriage - 50 years and counting, thank you very much - a hitch in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, a degree in accounting from the University of Denver and five years of Certified Public Accounting in Iowa followed. Then we moved to Southeast Idaho to continue my employment in corporate accounting and soon thereafter to get my feet wet as a business owner.
Thirty-five years and three grown children later, I sold my business, bought a Dodge diesel pickup and 5th wheel, and, accompanied by my wife Louise, lit out for parts unknown to us. After two years of criss-crossing the great American southwest and midwest, Louise and I decided that full-time RV-ing was not for us, so we sold the truck and 5th wheel and hunkered down in Pocatello.
I was getting restless so in the spring of 2002, I bought a local tobacco shop that was being liquidated.
Main Street Tobacco was opened in August 2002 and OutwestTobacco.com followed in 2003. My wife Louise then devoted more time to her primary hobby, (you know what I mean, guys?), buying and selling antiques and collectables.
As far as tobacco goes, I tried smoking cigarettes for about 50 years but it didn't take. Over the years I smoked a pipe off and on and exclusively for the past five years. I tend to favor Virginia blends - no favorites per se; I move from smoke to smoke quite a bit - in Petersons, Savinellis and Stanwells.

I’m there most every Monday through Saturday, and if I’m not, whoever’s behind the counter will fix you up just the same as me.
