Yenidje Highlander

The one blend so far in this series using Latakia is a classic mixture of the finest mountain grown Yenidje with both Cyprian and Syrian Latakia and just enough Matured Red Virginia and mellow Maryland. This is a smooth, cool-smoking Oriental Mixture of outstanding character. Our inspiration was a vintage tin of the old Balkan Sobanie White.

Yenidje Supreme

The finest of Xanthi in this blend comes from the best original Yenidje growing area of Western Thrace. These small, delicately aromatic, top leaves from the mountains (Djebel) and lower slopes (Yaka) have been renowned for their sweet, mild, fresh flavor and delicately tangy aroma since the 1600s. This blend is designed to demonstrate why this particular Xanthi is known as "The Queen of Tobaccos."

Yenice Agonya

Grown near the Sea of Marmara not far from the ancient Troy or Illium, this wide, fine-textured, reddish yellow Turkish tobacco variety is renowned for being smooth on the palate with a delicate aroma. Yenice is pronounced Yenidje in Turkish, and the Agonya seed is of Xanthi origin (that first Yenidje of legend). This blend is designed to highlight the beautiful Agony leaf's mellow taste and subtle fragrance.

Classic Samsun

In the hinterlands just south of the Black Sea in eastern Turkey, the prized Samsun Maden and Samsun Canek tobaccos draw their sweet, nutty flavor from the rocky soil as they have done for 350 years. Enjoy the distinctive mellow, pleasant character of the famed Samsun in this fine blend.

Black Sea Sokhoum

A strain of Samsun grown on the mountain slopes beyond the far Eastern shore of the Black Sea, this classic Oriental tobacco, considered by many to be amoung the finest grown, lends depth and a mild, sweet, mid-cigar like Flavor to this elegant Matured Birginia blend.

Katerini Classic

The small, hear-shaped Katerini leaf, grown from Samsun seed on the mountain slopes in Greek Western Macedonia, is delicate, elastic, robust. The aroma is subtle. Notice the sweet, mild, curry-like flavor in this mellow Virginia-based blend. Easy to pack, delightful to smoke.

Drama Reserve

The famed Drama leaf is sweet and subtle with a natural olive oil fragrance. It is grown on the Southern slopes and foothills of the Rhodope Mountains, the Classic Drama Basma District in Greek Eastern Macedonia, and includes the renowned Mahalla. Smyrna No. 1

Back when Istanbul was Constantinople, Ismir tobacco was Smyrna. "A rose by any other name...." These tiny, top-grade tobacco leaves from mountainous Western Turkey across from the Island of Khios have long been prized as the most aromatic of all Orientals. They grow dense and extremely fragrant in this dry country moistened by Mediterranean Sea breezes. Smyrna is the defining ingredient in this sophisticated Oriental blend.

Black Shag 50 gr

Sherlock Holmes kept it in the toe of a Persian Slipper nailed to the mantlepiece. It was dry and strong. Kept at what we today have deduced to be proper smoking moisture and smoked gently, this excellent stoved shag will provide hours of smoking pleasure. Smoke at once, if convenient. Examine the ash carefully.

Arcadia 50 gr

It was Dr. Watson's favorite tobacco. Holmes identified it by its characteristic white, fluffy ash. Sir James Barrie lauded it to the point of immortalization in "My Lady Nicotine." Years later, it was widely circulated that the Arcadia Mixture was really the Craven Mixture developed by the third Earl of Craven and produced at the Arcadia Works, of Carreras, Ltd., in London. Carreras is now long gone and the Craven Mixture has not been available since 1993.

When we set about the daunting task of deducing the composition of the extremely celebrated Arcadia Mixture, we examined at length and in depth several vintage tins of the Craven Mixture sent to us by dedicated collectors and have cross-referenced with the many literary descriptions of the famed Arcadia. Finally this new Arcadia blend is the happy result of our research. It is a wonderful blend--smooth, rich, subtle.

We have sought out the finest leaf, keeping in mind the leaf buying patterns of the British tobacco companies during the period when Dr. Watson and Mr. Holmes would have been smoking. We have sought to make this blend as historically accurate in cut and character as possible. Most importantly, we have endeavored to create a blend of such complexity and delicacy that Dr. Watson would smoke it today if he could.
